Bus Safety
Student behavior that distracts bus drivers is a hazard to the vehicle's safe operation, and jeopardizes the safety and welfare of all passengers. Misbehavior while on a yellow school bus or a Metro bus can result in disciplinary action for the student or the suspension of transportation service for the student. Read more about CPS requirements for student behavior on buses.

Cell Phone Policy
Both parents and students must understand that cell phones are not to be used during school hours. You also must understand that the cell phone should not be seen nor heard during school hours. If the phone is seen or heard, the phone will be taken by the teacher and will be returned to the student at the end of the day upon the first offense, but multiple offenses may require parents to come to school and retrieve the phone.
Finally, any cell phone that is lost or stolen while on school property is not the responsibility of Roll Hill School.
Discipline
Review CPS' Code of Conduct for disciplinary procedures. For additional information, read our Discipline Plan and School Responsibilities.
Dress Code
Roll Hill School is not a uniform school. We are confident that the parents and students will make sure that our children are dressed appropriately and still able to express their individuality. Listed below are guidelines that are expected to be followed for safety and to ensure appropriateness of clothing choices.
- Tops/Shirts
Long shirts must be tucked in to expose the waist. (Safety reasons) - Bottoms/Pants
All skirts, dresses and shorts must be at thigh length. - Belts
Required for all slacks, shorts with belt loop. All undergarments must be covered. - Headgear
No headgear for students including, but not limited to, hoods, night scarves, hats, gang bandannas and bonnets.
Students who violate the dress code will be referred to the administration or a designee. Attempts to secure appropriate clothing from home or borrow from the office will be made. According to the discretion of the administrator in charge, students dressed inappropriately may be assigned to ALC for the day or if given parental permission to return home to change.
Snow Days and School Delays
Snow days and school delays are announced on our website, local TV and radio stations, CPS' mobile app, and through automated phone calls. Assume school is open unless you hear otherwise. Learn more about CPS' severe weather and emergency closing procedures.
Visiting During School Hours
We welcome visits from parents and guardians. However, to protect student safety, all visitors must sign in at the main office and wear a visitor's badge. Parents/guardians who would like a conference with their child's teacher must schedule an appointment with the teacher.
